If you were approved for a federal tax extension, the State of Kentucky will automatically grant you a six month tax extension. If you weren't approved for a federal tax extension, or you need to make a state tax payment, you will need to submit Kentucky Form 40A-102 (PDF). Attach a copy of your federal extension form (IRS 4868) to your Kentucky tax return when filed.

Filing for a Kentucky tax extension will not grant you extra time to pay any tax balance due. Your balance must be paid by April 15 to avoid possible penalties.

If you already received an approval notification from ExpressExtension, and you don't need to make a tax payment, then you're all done.
